"Singer Utada Hikaru (20, aka Hikki) posted a message on her official
homepage after the start of the attack in Iraq. In a short essay, she protested the war by starting off with "a righteous war does not exist". To the soliders fighting the war, they fight because they believe in the country and its people. But, there is no meaning in war. Hikki believes, "when you start to really think about what war is, from the bottom of my heart, I still can't believe that there would be people supporting the war." She added, "there are actually people who thinks that it's necessary to go to war and think that this is the right thing to do. I can't believe that. I don't like those people who support the war and those who don't care. Those people bear the same crime."
"Singer Utada Hikaru (19) was invited by Prime Minister Koizumi Junichirou (60) to the reception for President Bush at Japan's capital building. Utada shook hands with President Bush and said "It's a pleasure to meet you in" in English. Bush told Utada, "I've heard of you before."
